#LAZARUS re-release info. #ATFU
I’m getting this album together for re-release. ‘Lazarus’ is the first ‘solo’ album I crafted and released. Named one of the ‘Best Indiana Albums of 2011’ (Indianapolis Star), I look forward to getting it back online and in your ears.
It was available on iTunes upon initial release; the re-release will be on my Bandcamp page. During the first week of re-release, it will be available as a free download.
The re-release will include 4 bonus tracks; a demo of the band version of ‘Liars (And The Hate They Create)’ , a ‘Tinkerer’ type cover of Marvin Gaye’s ‘I Want You’, a remixed version of ‘Lifetime’, and ‘Goldie’s Lament’ (originally released as part of ‘5ive On The Black Hand Side’). It will also include the full artwork by Jason Ratliff.
I love this album, but it’s very hard for me to listen to. It details a very difficult period in my life that I refer to as ‘The Cruel Years’. I was dealing with a lotta self-doubt, self-hate, outside hate, and loss. It was legitimately the worst period of my life. I had nothing to go to but the music.
Looking back, everything about this album represents discovery and change to me; I changed my lyrical approach from Mudkids to this album because I needed to.
This is the first official project that appeared under the name ‘Rusty Redenbacher’. This album was MINE (and SP’s, obviously), I was gonna start saying what I had to say, what was unheard while I was smiling in people’s faces and trying to keep from killing myself.
I realized around the time I started this album that looking on the bright side is bullshit when people around are determined to keep you blind. You can’t look on the bright side when someone is poking you in the eye every chance they get. Eventually, you’ll just close your eyes and beg for it to stop. If it doesn’t stop, you’d better open your eyes and look for the quickest exit…or fight back.
This is an album full of things I never said before it was recorded, things I needed to say, issues I needed to deal with…YESTERDAY. The only way I knew to deal with it was by living the life I knew how to live. I’m an ARTIST…my life STAYS in my art. I think a big part of the problems I was having was that I couldn’t put my life into my art because I didn’t wanna make a buncha records that reflected how fucked up my life was. If you knew it or not, I did and I didn’t wanna have that in my discography, my legacy.
…but it was so damn real.
I had to stop being scared of expressing these feelings in my art, my music, my LIFE. I had to stop biting my tongue because I was about to bite it off. I had to face the facts that I have/had issues. I faced my issues. I face my issues every day. I pray for strength, I talk to my family and friends, I talk to God, and if I need it again, I will talk to a professional. I do these things because I value myself so much more now than I did then.
Through all this, I made it. I swore I was ready to die and I made it. Everything was yanked from me and I rebuilt everything. I’m still building. After I bled this album out, I became a better artist. I became legitimately free in my mind after being chained up there for so very long.
Artist or not, if you got something to say, you gotta say it. What you don’t say sometimes speaks volumes, so if there is something attacking your mind, get it outta there with VOLUME.
Speak up. It feels great.
LAZARUS is RISEN.

Boys to men.
You CAN grow up in hip-hop.
It IS okay to do so.
Stay true to YOU.
Thank you, Yauch.
So, I crafted this lil promo video for ‘LOWER’ last night.
Somehow, the text on the word ‘LOWER’ got cut in half.
I didn’t mean for that to happen…but I dug it.
It looks like the word is representing itself, like it’s half buried or sinking into something.
I can roll with it.
I dig ‘happy accidents’.

I think I gotta cool album done for y’all.
Dig this, just a lil something I put together to let you know what’s going on here.
I’m about done with ‘LOWER’. It’s funky, raw, and real. Again, I am responsible for every sound you hear on this album, just like ‘The Tinkerer’.
There will be a companion piece for ‘LOWER’ called ‘OTHER’ consisting of outtakes and remixes. Fon kay.
Stay tuned for release dates and more info…
Yuh man, Rusty in Indiana gets busy…
….on my way to work, thinking of more work…and putting in work.
Here I am. Here comes trouble…again.
#LOWER, and it is so real down here.
#ATFU, yo…and it don’t stop.

This is a tune I wrote about love and the love in my life. Now, I’ll tell you a quick story.
Muhbabay hears everything I do before anyone else. I get done with projects and I give her a CD to proof for me. I want her to check it before I send it into the world. Shit, I ain’t no balladeer, so sometimes when I do these joints when I sing, I get a little self-conscious….but I sing and rap from my heart and soul, so it’s whatever…I’ll never be Marvin or Stevie, but I can hold a tune.
I originally wrote this song for ‘LOWER’ and had it in the sequence. After Muhbabay heard ‘LOWER’ in its entirety, she said,
“It’s good. I don’t like the ‘twerk’ song cuz I don’t like songs telling girls to shake and twerk or whatever…and I have to be honest, I think the song you wrote about me is kinda mushy and doesn’t fit the rest of the album.”
That’s real. That’s love. A lotta people would want ‘their’ song on the album, regardless, but Muhbabay don’t want me to play myself. She wants me to shine as best I can. That’s why I wrote the dang song….and probably why it’s so ‘mushy’. It was big for me. It showed me yet another layer of something to love about Muhbabay.
Here’s the moral; Someone who loves you will not let you play yourself on their behalf…ever.
So, now…this track will not be on ‘LOWER’ and will likely end up on the accompanying compilation, ‘OTHER’. ‘OTHER’ has the stuff that didn’t fit ‘LOWER’s vibe, as well as some remixes from ‘The Tinkerer’.
Aight, hit ‘play’. Maybe you can play this for your love. Have a great one, y’all.

11 new tracks of uncut, unadulterated DOTTA, right on the heels of ‘Gone’ and the underground epic, ‘Born To Fly’, Dotta brings you back into the life of the Globetrotta.
This is the first release on Dotta’s new Bandcamp page, y’all. Get on over there and tell your friends about what he’s got going on over there.
NEW @DOTTA9! Get that #V12 NOW!
‘LOWER’ is kinda a wild album. At present time, it contains 21 tracks. The actual album itself is 18 tracks with three bonus tracks, running about 69 minutes.
It’s too long to be a single album and too short to be a double album. I’ve actually dropped tracks trying to get it down to a cool 50-55 minutes or so, but I’m really happy with the tracks that make up ‘LOWER’. The sequence flows nicely, it sounds like a complete album. I made the decision recently that it was gonna be ‘3 Sides and a 45’ and to put the stuff that fits for ‘LOWER’ on it.
The stuff that doesn’t fit on the album, for whatever reason, will be released for free on my Bandcamp page as a compilation called ‘OTHER’. There’s some remixes from ‘The Tinkerer’ in addition to the outtakes from the sessions for ‘LOWER’
Limits be damned. Stay with me.
(P.S. THAT NEW DOTTA, ‘V12’ DROPS AT 4 PM! AN HOUR AND 11 MINUTES FROM NOW!)

Been working on this since I posted the instrumental this afternoon. I really like what I wrote to it. Felt like sharing a bit of what I knocked out today. Tough tune, man. I’m a happy camper.
Often times, the working title becomes part of my lyrical focus. I’ve done it like that since Mudkids. Tyler would always give me tracks with titles and it kinda kickstarted my thought process. I’ve stuck with it, I suppose.
I’m still working on these two thingamajigs I’m gonna release in a while…as the spirit hits me I work, change, shift things around, write new stuff, make new tracks…all that, y’know. I just feel it…and I go.
I’m thankful that I have the space, means, and ability to continue being creative. I won’t stop and I thank you for listening.
This ‘LOWER’ and ‘OTHER’ shit is gonna be ill. Trust Russ. I’ve been in the IMMF for you like a boss.
