Recorded for ‘LOWER’, definitely fun, kinda the companion piece to ‘Shake’ from ‘The Tinkerer’. Just a dirty, techno fonkin, poppin, lockin ass shaker…Twerk fummy.
Anyway, up until about 10 days ago, it was the second track on the album…now, it’s a bonus track or sumn. I dig it, personally, but had to accept that within the concept of the ALBUM I was trying to make, it didn’t work as well as I wanted it to.
I moved it around in the sequence, I remixed it, I rethought it…just couldn’t find a way to make it work for ‘LOWER’ when it was all said and done…
…still want y’all to hear it tho…

Blessings, avoiding the stressing, I like my turkey with gravy and dressing…you know the deal, it’s your man, Naptown Slim here with that good word you need. I got that for you.
‘Integrity’
Wordlife. Integrity is everything. Integrity leads to ‘trust’ and ‘faith’. A lack of integrity leads to questions every day from everyone that knew you before you sold out.
Oh, believe that; the act of disposing of your integrity is fully ‘selling out’. If I know you, your character, and everything you claimed to be about and your entire lifestyle is the antithesis of all that, guess what…? You have no integrity. None. You ain’t got a leg to stand on if we start talking about what’s real cuz you’re the type to do ANYTHING to belong or fit it ANYWHERE. Ain’t nobody checking for you that knew you from before because a cursory glance at you reveals how far gone you are from what you claimed to be.
Once you throw that integrity out the window, you’ll be seen as an ‘opportunist’, one that is willing to ride with whoever wherever because you have nothing of your own to carry you through life. No passion, no desire for anything that isn’t material, no real understanding of what it means to stick with something or someone you believe in. Your lack of integrity makes it so you’re one of those ‘passengers’ we speak of ‘round these parts.
Look at the middle of that word, ‘Integrity’. ‘GRIT’ right in the middle of it. If you don’t get what ‘GRIT’ is about, it’s likely because you never had to grit for anything in your life. No wonder ‘integrity’ is such a foreign concept to some folks; too many people want everything handed to them and ain’t willing to go get it themselves. I am not one of those people nor do I want them around me. They ruin lives, man. They don’t have an understanding of what it takes to be committed to anything…and I am so committed to all I do, the people I do it for, and why I do it, it may be hard for someone that has nothing like that for something real in their life to understand me….and that’s fine. I don’t need shallow people to understand me.
In summation, folks throw terms like “Keep it real” and “Stay true” around and the only way they can know if you ain’t is if you changed for the worse. I change all the time, it’s a part of life…but no one can say they don’t know who I am at my core.
That’s ‘integrity’. Look into it if you’re lacking it. Get you some.

f you have seen the Google doodle today, you have likely been amazed by the ability they gave you to play a dang near real Moog with your keyboard.
This is awesome to me because it reveals that with technology and a bit of creativity, anyone can make funky noise. This is an amazing time to be an ARTIST…and ANYONE can be one. You have access to infinite sounds and images and you can create and recreate with them at will.
I actually produced all of the tracks that you have heard on ‘The Tinkerer’ and will hear on ‘LOWER’ on this very laptop. In fact, many of the synthesizer and keyboard parts were played on the keyboard I am typing on right now. I discovered a lotta stuff on accident or through sheer will of wanting to figure it out and once I discovered those things, I kept adding on.
A very big part of what I am about is “Do as much as you can by yourself as affordably as possible. Get it done.” Everyone in @ATFU_ does their own recording, the majority of us produce the music we rap on and record it ourselves. There are seven self-starters in this crew and when one does something, they automatically know six cats are gonna check it out and make sure to get the word out about it.
My man, @defame1982, a.k.a. ‘The Gorillaphant’) is very much like us. We connect on a lotta levels. He crafted this remix of a song from ‘The Tinkerer’ with the AniMoog app on his iPhone…and it’s FONKAY. Mastered at home himself, got it knocking and here it is for you to hear and download.
I don’t know how to play instruments. I’ve never gone to music school. I’ve never taken a class on production, recording, or engineering. I’ve no training whatsoever in these regards, but I have trained myself to pursue my passion and utilize whatever there is around me to make the best art I can make.
I’m proud and happy to have so many people around me that feel the same way and have the same passion. Naptown is FULL of these people.
If you got something in your heart and a creative outlet for it, just do that stuff, man. You can get it done.
Sometimes you gotta do thangs for yourself if you wanna know if you really wanna do something. I have never stopped making music…and I do everything I had to to make it so I would never stop because it makes my soul complete. As long as I have something to say, I will make music and say it.
…and they’re making it easy to do so. I love it.
Get in the lab, whatever lab it is…go investigate your passion and get at it.

I had to get it done for the people that told me they would represent me with their purchase.
