RUTHIE!!!
This is Ruthie, my pal from merry ol’ England. I met her when she would come to Rockin’ Billy’s to get caught up on the latest hip-hop vinyl on behalf of her son, Ewan (that dude is a BAWSE; BRIGHTON UK HIP-HOP ADIYM) and we had lovely conversations from the jump. She’s just the coolest, man.
Every time Ruthie visits the States, which is about once a year, we get together, exchange music and get caught up. We usually will sit and have coffee and talk about the state of the world and our lives for an hour or two before this jet-setter has to get back to being the badass she is. I always look forward to these visits. When I get that call from an unknown and hear that accent in the ‘Hullo?’, I get geeked up, cuz I know my pal is in town.
Here’s yet another example of how hip-hop has introduced me to great people from all over the world and how it has given me a starting point for some incredible friendships.
