#MeetBlackSanta!
Hey, man…tomorrow from 1-3 at the REVOL store, 8241 Pendleton Pike, my man BLACK SANTA is gonna be in the house! Myself and the peeps from 106.7 WTLC will be there too! WOO!
Lemme tell ya a cool story, well…I think it is..
I met Black Santa for the first time when I was about 4 or 5. Channel 13 did a story on Black Santa and was filming footage while I was there, man. So, they got some footage of me on the cat’s knee.
My Mama told me those were the news people or whatever. She let me stay up late that night. My whole family gathered around the TV at 11 o’clock to watch the Channel 13 news, especially for the ‘Black Santa’ story.
We watched. Seemed like they sure talked for a loooong time. Yo, I MET Black Santa, man….I WAS THERE…y’all got the pictures or what? I seen a BUNCHA kids already, man…y’all ain’t gonna show me?
Then, at the end of the story…a shot of yuh boy, Young Naptown Slim, chillin, posted on Black Santa’s knee…like a BOSS. My whole family cheered and my Mama hugged me…”My baby was on TV!”
That was the first time I was ever on television. Never forgot it. And here I am, all these years later, on television and the radio, bringing the fonk and love to my home every day…and my family still cheers.
Black Santa is real.

#NaptownSlim on ‘Home’
Ay y’all. Yuh boy out here in this lovely backyard, appreciating nature and trees and the breeze before I ride to get this cheese; you know who it is, the magnificent Naptown Slim. I gotta touch on that ‘representing’ thang again.
Whenever you see me or say my name, you know what I represent. Make no bones about it, I am very proud of where I am from. I let em know, say my name one time. Ok, then. Indianapolis, Indiana, United States Of America.
I traveled across the country doing this music thang. I ain’t done. Everywhere I go, I tell em about Y’ALL, man. Y’all been ridin with Slim for a long time. I appreciate y’all so much, man. That’s why I say so much and work so hard. I intend to work harder too. This is just begun.
I’ve heard some people say they might think they are bigger and better than what ‘home’ has to offer. I say to those people; do your thang, get yours…yourself…elsewhere. I’d be impressed by that. People have done it. Others run off to big cities because there’s big coattails there to ride. Nah. Slim got big coattails at the crib and would rather be able to flip them joints up when I sit down at my keyboard…on some ol Bugs Bunny stuff. Ha. No backseaters necessary. The merch guy and our gear can go there.
I’m a proud dude, very proud. I had that pride smashed and it came back with a vengeance. I started building in Naptown years ago and never told anyone I would stop, in fact, quite the opposite. Now, from my being ‘me’, I’m on your TV, radio, and well, look at what you reading now. And it ain’t like I’m just jammin for Naptown, we jammin NAPTOWN for the world, b. They ARE online and they ARE checkin for us. I SEENT it.
I just wanted to let y’all know that regardless of where I go on the planet and in life, I ain’t ever forgettin where I came from and I’m always representin y’all. That’s it, man. I’m just happy this is my home.
Right on, Indianapolis. Y’all have been really good to me. Thank you.
Another funky, cold blooded Naptown Slim production, as real as ever.
HIT THE PIC TO SEE HOW ME AND MY MAN, MR. KINETIK REPRESENT INDIANAPOLIS ONSTAGE.
#NaptownSlim - just real talk.
Peacepeace everybody. It’s Naptown Slim again.
I really love that cat in the picture behind me. That’s my gee, Matt. He’s gone now, man. Shit still hurts. I ain’t even tryna sugar-coat it, man. The shit hurts.
I might get all up in my emotions right now, but I ain’t trippin, because I’m supposed to get all up in my emotions. I’m standing in a spot where this brother gave me work, advice, love, care, food, a SPOT, man…when I really didn’t feel like I had anywhere to be. This is my old friend from school, man. We went back so many years already at this point…and my dawg said, “Slim, we got you. Come on in.”
And I came on in….and it was like I was already there and had been there the whole time.
I’m tryna keep this short and sweet, cuz a gee really gotta wash his face and get back to work. Let this be known.
I’m really really really glad that that cat behind me sipping the beer was my friend…and there’s a whoooooole buncha people that would say the same thing….and I’m grateful that I know a whooooole buncha those people.
If you can’t say that about your life when it’s all said and done, you lived wrong. Ain’t nobody gonna be talking about what designer you wearing in your coffin, fool. You better get some appreciation for life while you got it. You better learn to share what you got to offer with these world, cuz that’s how you really leave your mark. My gee, Matt, got a legacy of love and greatness that lives on in all of us and in the very room where I am standing, taking this picture, forcing a smile when I wanna cry…
…but I’m here with my gees. LIfe ain’t so bad, man.
I miss you, Matt. Slim really love you, bruh. Thank you for everything, man. You were truly a friend to everybody who met you and that is the greatest thing you can say about a man’s life.
Peace, y’all. Naptown Slim gotta get back to this work like Matt told me to do. I ain’t stopping, man.

#NaptownSlim living the life…
Peace, y’all. Naptown Slim wants to tell you what happened to him last night. It was an amazing thing. Listen.
That gentleman in the picture is named ‘Chris’. He saw Muhbabay and I at the Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry show, just chillin. He came over and introduced himself and let me know he dug my music, vibes, and had for a long time. We chopped it up real proper, man. Slim loves to return the love, baby.
In between sets, we stepped outside for some air and to enjoy the Indiana night. My man, Chris, was outside and said to me,
“Hey, man; I wasn’t tryna be all touristy or nothing. I really love what you’re about. I’m glad you were born.”
Son, yuh man, Slim is a cool cat, but that right there? That quote right there? I can’t think of nothing cooler to say to a fellow human being.
He asked if he could take a picture with me. I told him, “That’s crazy, cuz I was just about to ask you the same thing.”, then we took some flicks.
I told the brother where he could find me online and to stay in touch. Definitely wouldn’t be mad if I saw or heard from the homey again…and I wanna say this; Chris, I’m glad you were born too, man.
I didn’t think it could get much better than seeing Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry with the person I share my life with, but it did.
Thanks, Chris. Yuh boy Slim gotta tell it; those words moved me in a great way.
That’s another funky Naptown Slim production, brought to you from Planet Naptown, from the heart of the REAL.
CLICK THE PIC SO I CAN SHOW YOU SOME LOVE FROM A FEW YEARS BACK
Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, live tonight at The Vogue in Indianapolis, IN.
Yup. The Upsetter killed The Devil in #NAPTOWN.
So awesome, man.
I never thought I would ever get to see this man play live.
He’s been a huge influence on me since I first discovered his work through The Beastie Boys’ old magazine ‘Grand Royal’.
I found a tape (!!!) called ‘All The Hits’ for a dollar (!!!) after I read the article. That mug STAYED in the deck. My friends would come over and wonder why I was listening to this hissy, odd sounding tape EVERY TIME they came over. I don’t even think I could explain it at the time. It just touched me.
I’ve been throwing references to his work in mine ever since, going as far back as the first Mudkids album and most recently with ‘The Tinkerer’s Dub (Mpozitivity)’ on my latest release, Rusty Redenbacher - ‘The Tinkerer’
In later years, I came to realize how massive his influence was on reggae music. He recorded and produced some incredible sides for Bob Marley And The Wailers, when they were making the move from ‘ska’ into what is now recognized worldwide as ‘reggae’ music.
He invented ‘Dub’ reggae. He’s one of the first people to truly use the studio as an instrument. He was doing things with a four track in 1970 that people can’t figure out or replicate today. Just amazing.
Well, I saw Scratch kill the devil last night with Muhbabay in my hometown. It was one of the best nights out I’ve had in a long time, thought I should share some of it with you.
SCRATCH THE DUB ORGANIZER! HEAR ME NOW! BIG UP @djIndianaJones! BIG UP CRUSHSTAR INTERNATIONAL! BIG UP YUH SELF!
#ForTheKids. #NAPTOWN Radio Doin Thangs.
My pal, @BSwift317 (Hot 96.3) and I making sure that EVERYONE is a winner.
Let us bless the people with Plinko and gifts for their prowess.
I had a buncha fun and we hooked a buncha people up. Every kid is a winner!
WoW.
Lemme say this; People are gonna be entertained by sex and violence and that’s that, but some kids are so desensitized to violence that they don’t even think it’s real until they maim or kill someone. 9 year-olds are looking at things on the internet that weren’t even in my imagination at that age.
They have FOOTAGE of it, man. Lord.
Also, mental health issues are obviously going unchecked in this case. Kids don’t just stab people unless they’ve BEEN having REAL issues. You gotta talk to em, man. You gotta KNOW what they’re up to, how they’re feeling, what motivates and hurts them. This kid needed help before this, no one can tell me different…and now, one kid’s life is ended way too early and another’s is ruined and scarred forever.
Talk to your children. Make sure you know the difference between ‘teen-ager crazy’ and ‘having issues with mental health’. There’s a big difference and it could mean life or death.
