This is one of the greatest interviews ever.

I really get the feeling the radio-personality thought Pimp C was gonna back down. Listen to his tone at the beginning… “..what’s goin’ on with the stuff in Ozone Magazine, man…? A-Town’s kinda infurious!” (which is not a word, but I digress) and from JUMP, PIMP WASN’T HAVING IT. Then the dude is like “Well, THE A IS UPSET!”

Oh, rlly?

I wanna know who appointed this dude to speak for ‘The A’. Is there someplace where I can apply for a job to be THE voice of ‘Naptown’? I gotta lotta shit to talk and if I could do it feeling like the whole city had my back, I’d take those odds any day (Indianapolis, pop., 807, 584). As it stands, I know a LOTTA cats that rep the city and I’m not like most of them. They used to laugh at my dreadlocks when I first started growing them…(who’s laughing now? MWA AH AH AHAHA HAHA AND I saved a GANG of money of barber-shop visits.) My point is I can understand why dweebs try to rep for ‘the city’, for I am one of those dweebs, but THIS DWEEB DONE MESSED UP!! THAT’S PIMP C, FOOL!

(Also, if ATL is anything like Naptown in it’s listening habits, which it is…the cats who would really have beef with Pimp C and be willing to talk about it ain’t listening to the radio, my dude. They’re in the trunk, taking the multi-disc changer out to replace last week’s mixtape by a DJ that ‘knows how to play the shit and let it ride’ or ‘chopped n’ screwed the shit outta _______’ They sure as hell ain’t checkin’ for ‘Power’, ‘Hot’, ‘Kiss’ or what the flip ever ‘FM’. That’s my word as a dude who worked in a Mom-and-Pop record store for ten years. *Kanye Voice* You can’t tell me NUTHIN’.)

Oh, anyway…From that point on, just listen to how Pimp C just DOMINATES this interview. I don’t feel like typing out all the choice quotes cuz there’s a GANG of ‘em and the real beauty is in how this brother says ‘em anyway. Chuuch

Bun B, I love that brother, but he ain’t been the same since Pimp’s been gone. And he won’t be. Pimp C was the ‘Lennon’ to his ‘McCartney’. They were brothers, man. I’m happy they got to see just a small taste of mainstream success before Pimp died.

It tripped me out when I learned to like them (y’all know a cat was listening to a lotta Gang Starr and Tribe), but the production was undeniable. Someone, I think it was my man, DJ Tec!, told me Pimp did all the production…*smacks forehead*

…and can’t forget how hard we slumped off the ‘Menace II Society’ soundtrack… “I got a pocket fulla stooooooooones”…*grabs CD from Eric* “WHO THIS?”.

Man, just listen to this shit…Pimp C wasn’t takin’ no shit from nobody no time soon. He was gonna say what he felt and got-dammit, if you couldn’t take it tough. He worked for years to get to that point and got to that point by doing that…and creating the blueprint for a lotta the “Southern Sound’ in hip-hop, that too…

RIP: PIMP C.
