#NaptownSlim in your area. Here’s a word for today. If your soul is corrupt from years of using people, chasing material things, and faking sincerity about anything in life because you have no identity of your own, this stare I’m giving you might be piercing. Feel it…cuz if you are this type of person, you know damn well that I want nothing to do with you ever and you have no business peepin me out. Stay your fake self all the way over there. This is where truth lives. Slim gon tell it. No sell out and no sell outs welcome. #ATFU

#NaptownSlim on ‘WORK’.
Slim at the gig, baby…and that takes us to this word.
‘Work’, all types of it.
People who don’t appreciate your work don’t need to be anywhere around you. Your work is a part of your identity. Someone who doesn’t appreciate it doesn’t appreciate you. If you don’t make enough at the gig for someone to qualify hanging with you, be sure to tell that person to kiss your ass.
People know me from my various jobs. Oh yes, they’re all jobs, even this. This very post is part of my work. These posts brought me more work. My profile on your social media sites garnered me some very positive attention. The work I put in to have something to talk about on those sites brought me more work.
I worked at Rockin Billy’s Records for 10 years+. I’ve been in the Radio One building for about the same amount of time. I worked at Northside News for about three years until it closed. Obviously, I have worked on a lotta music, independently, for years.
I have never purported to anyone that I was rich, gonna be, or that that was my goal. Yeah, I like money, but I won’t sell myself out to get it. And I surely wouldn’t sell myself out to get next to someone with it. I work for mine.
I don’t quit jobs because I’m not a quitter. I work every chance I get. I pick up shifts. It doesn’t bother me because I like to earn and I love my jobs.
Some people simply do not wanna work. They wanna be carried. They want someone to provide. It gives them a sense of ‘security’ to know that someone else is handling the load.
They’re not willing to go out and get things for themselves because they honestly feel entitled to everything the world has to offer, regardless of the fact that they have offered the world nothing but a cute face.
They feel like it is someone else’s responsibility to provide for them when they ain’t even willing to work for that relationship.
They wanna chill, then take vacations, have fancy dinners, rock new clothes, buy big houses, then stay home….based off the work you did.
These type of people have no appreciation for work. They look for every opportunity to avoid it. They can’t maintain a working relationship OR a vocation because people don’t have an appreciation for those that show NO desire to work. It’s one thing to wanna chill, it’s another to expect someone to provide that opportunity to you…especially, you ain’t done one part or ANYTHING to make it so you can ‘chill’.
People love to waltz into ‘ready-made’ situations, as if no work went into making your ‘security’ happen. People ready to quit working the first chance they get can’t wait to find a sucker to take care of them. Here’s the rub though…
Once you’ve found your financial salvation and you decide you can chill, what happens when they get sick of your freeloading ass? What will you do if you need to go to work? Do you have that option? Have you burned so many bridges behind you with your laziness and ineptitude that you can’t go back for references? Did you even make an impression on anyone while you were working?
DO YOU EVEN REMEMBER HOW TO WORK?
I do. How could I forget? YOU musta forgot.
I do it every day…on something….and that’s on EVERYTHING. If you ain’t doing it, you can shut entirely up. I have no types of cares for whatever you’re talking about should you slander my work and you ain’t done a damn thing for yourself.
Look at me; self-made, self-propelled…and every chance I get, I bring my people up with me.
That’s that GOOD work and it ain’t got jack to do with what I get paid.
Now get to work on yourself.
