This is a direct reflection of my timeline on Twitter regarding MY feelings about how the game has basically changed from where I started. I come from a legacy of putting 350 paying people in a nightclub on a regular basis. And while there are pockets where people are packing clubs every now and then, there isn’t really a stable base for the ‘live musician’ in a lotta towns anymore.

The fact of the matter is, I no longer see the need to come outta my house and rock shows where I live anymore if I can’t expect to make a certain amount of money for my time, promotional effort, prestige where I live, and the various media platforms I maintain and control to keep all these things I just named #relevant. (WHAT IT DO, @FEERAY #ATFU!) so basically, I have made a decision to back away from the stages of Indianapolis and go focus on these other platforms…all the entities that I work for do not hold the same views as myself and they don’t claim to, nor are they responsible for any words or thoughts expressed that you may not want your kids’ tender ears to hear. It does include words that I can’t ever say on the radio, but not all 24.

I’m here. I won’t be there…unless it’s for @ATFU_ and it’s realistic.

I produced this track last night, finished it up tonight, and the spirit moved me to write a song. That’s how it works for me…

Listen, man. I love to make music. I always will, but I’ve accepted some realities in the last year or so. The game has changed so very much where I live. I love #Naptown, but I can’t really depend on hometown to keep my operation afloat like I used to.

I’ve ALWAYS had day jobs and kept some money in my pocket, so I’ve never relied on the music to make sure I could eat…but I usually made a nice penny. Now, in the last few years, I’ve seen the live music scene in #Naptown dissipate….literally vaporize. I guess there are spots that are doing all they can to give artists a forum. I play these clubs and I always have a wonderful experience. But, with my pedigree, history, and shit…even my social-media touch, I’m bringing a lotta shit to the table. Every single cat in #ATFU is bringing the funk, the thunder like I am…

…I say that to say this; there’s no way I need to be rocking in my city for gas money, bruh. Not on a Saturday night, when I could be working on the radio, or making new music to further spread the legend of @ATFU_ online to a NATIONAL..ahem…WORLDWIDE audience. And really, what bigger forums do I need to have other than local radio AND television to be able to say, ‘Uh, yeah…this is my fee.’ Flat out. Have it when I get there or don’t approach me and don’t ask me to approach and of my SIX GROWN-ASS BROTHERS that I roll with who #ALSO happen to be amongst the BEST at what they do around here with that young shit.

Game changed, man.

Now, my passion will not be pimped in support of the scene, because well, I am a professional…at ALL kinds of stuff…as you can clearly see and hear from this very post. It. Is. What. I. Do.

…but I don’t hafta promote your show, get all my homeboys and all the people that support us to promote it #aswell, come to your show, hold that shit down, and post video and blogs about it, furthering YOUR profile right along with ours…without expecting SOMETHING for my effort…at this point in my life and career, that should make sense to anybody.

So, I just won’t do it.

…and I rock…like a muthafucka. Go check #ATFUTube and watch any of the live clips. Aside from all the above stuff I said, yeah, man…I fuckin rock. Bruh, we kickstarted the movement with all those great free albums so when we kept it rollin, the shows would generate something…anything…everybody coming at me needs to know this now, DON’T…unless you have a budget. I NEVER expected to get rich from making music, but at this point y’all…if I can’t name my price and get it, I ain’t playing. It’s that simple.

I’m having to learn how to declare my worth, folks. This is a personal journey that I will let you in on as time sees fit and the spirit moves me.

I think this song should speak to a lotta independent artists who feel the pressure of trying to use where you live as a springboard, but meet with resistance. Don’t get it wrong, I love #Naptown music of ALL KINDS, I will be coming to shows and shooting footage like I always do whenever I get the chance. I’m always sure to make sure to mention the local artists that get played on IMC because these artists work HARD to get a name…just as I have. Well, man… I gotta name, that’s one thing I do know, I gotta name cuz I stop and sign it on your kids’ t-shirts when I’m at the grocery-store, I hear it screamed at me when I’m on the sidewalk and I say it every night on television. (#Snark, love it, deal with it)

I just can do so much more as a supporter from the outside who just happens to make music…but ain’t finna jump on that stage without someone knowing damn well what they are getting when I do so and paying me and my team for that.

That’s about all I need to say. Now there’s a written record of why I feel like this.

Staying home, finishing this in 24 hours myself, while teaching myself new techniques of editing and mixing, writing a song that is as real as anything I’ve ever written and posting it online for the world to download for free, absorb, and push the name and rep of my squad mission nationally, so I can #MABY generate real income later »»»»»»»»> coming to a club and playing it for you for peanuts.

I’m getting more outta staying home and creating music than I am going out and playing it…spiritually. #ASWELL

And THAT is more of a reason to stay in the crib and hustle for the squad at Mission Control.
