Peace and blessings from the beautiful Circle City. #NaptownSlim has a word for you. Maybe it applies to you, maybe it doesn’t, but I honestly think everyone needs to hear what I’m about to say. Thus, Slim gon tell it. I’ve always marched to the beat of my own remix. I can’t say that I’m a moral guardian or nothing, but I can say without hesitation that I ain’t no follower, sellout, or sucker…and I gotta code that keeps me from ever feeling like I am. I’ve spoken to you about having a ‘code’ before…and I’m gonna add on to that. If you are trying to blaze your own trail, make your own way, be an individual…and I’d bet most of you are…you’re gonna hafta establish rules and a code that works for YOURSELF. I ain’t talkin bout a code that you impose upon others and act as if they HAFTA fall in line; I mean one of your OWN. There are far too many people in this world too happy to take from others. Too many that have no code, no ethics, and believe that getting ahead “by any means necessary” is the meaning of life. They ain’t even livin. They’ll follow anybody anywhere to get the ‘everything’ they want. Simpletons and seat-fillers all. Y’all ain’t gettin ahead, you MIGHT be gettin over…but everyone with substance in your life knows that your lack of substance indicates a lack of a code. Most people who have established their ethics carry them into every part of their life, just the same as those who DON’T have any. Folks, Slim is just telling you what he knows from living this life. Y’all don’t know my ‘code’ verbatim, but my walk and talk through life shows it. I fake no jacks. I guess I’m just rappin to y’all to let you know that when you are out you’re gonna hafta have something you hold on to in your heart that keeps you going, and sometimes you might not get it from the outside world. You may hafta go into yourself to find some sort of peace…and without some understanding of yourself, your code, your ethics, and what you wanna leave this world with to remember you by…well, that can be difficult.
